Library

Welcome to the Katherine Johnson Middle School Library!

Did you know that students who don’t read over the summer can lose as much as one full year of progress? Don’t let summer slide happen to you – keep reading throughout the summer. You can even earn prizes by signing up for Fairfax Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, and/or by completing our Summer Reading BINGO challenge. Not sure what to read? Check out next year’s Battle of the Books titles or some of our Suggested Reading choices. Happy reading, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall!

Book Checkout & Return

The library does not interfere with students’ book choices.  We do not question or censor a student’s book selection, regardless of interest, reading ability, or content.  Parents may enforce checkout limits and requirements with their own students.

How many books can I check out?

We do not have a checkout limit.  Students may checkout as many books that they can handle and be responsible for.

How long can I keep the books that I checked out?

Students have 3 weeks to read and enjoy their books.  If a book is not on hold, you may renew the book for another 3 weeks.

What happens if a book is late or lost?

We ask that you return your book on time, so other students may use them.

We do not charge fines for overdue books; however, if a book is lost or returned damaged, students must pay to replace it.

How do I find books that I might like to read?
