Library

Welcome to the Katherine Johnson Middle School Library!

At Katherine Johnson MS, the Library is an integral part of the curriculum and the school. Students have access to a wide variety of print and non-print resources. KJMS' extensive fiction collection contains the latest titles by popular young adult authors, classic literature, audiobooks and eBooks. Our up-to-date non-fiction and reference sections provide materials for browsing and research projects.

Book Checkout & Return

The library does not interfere with students’ book choices.  We do not question or censor a student’s book selection, regardless of interest, reading ability, or content.  Parents may enforce checkout limits and requirements with their own students.

How many books can I check out?

We do not have a checkout limit.  Students may checkout as many books that they can handle and be responsible for.

How long can I keep the books that I checked out?

Students have 3 weeks to read and enjoy their books.  If a book is not on hold, you may renew the book for another 3 weeks.

What happens if a book is late or lost?

We ask that you return your book on time, so other students may use them.

We do not charge fines for overdue books; however, if a book is lost or returned damaged, students must pay to replace it.

How do I find books that I might like to read?

  • Browse our bookshelves

  • Check out the FCPS “What to Read Next” site

  • Ask your librarians! We are happy to help!

How can I suggest a book to add to the library?

Student recommendations are always welcome! Please complete the book suggestion form
