FCPS Get2Green and the National Wildlife Federation’s Eco-Schools USA celebrated the 10th anniversary of both programs with presentations of the fourth Green Flag at both our school and Centreville Elementary. We and Centreville ES, as well as Flint Hill ES are currently the only schools in the United States with permanent Green Flag status through Eco-Schools USA for their sustained excellence in student-driven environmental action. Our students were cited for their efforts to improve the health of the local environment; Centreville Elementary students were congratulated for fostering a green school culture and being a national model for other schools. The National Wildlife Federation is an Ignite Partner, and Eco-Schools USA works closely with Get2Green to support schools throughout FCPS engaging students in hands-on environmental action. Our school and Centreville ES started their environmental programs a decade ago and have won national awards for their work. To learn more about Get2Green at FCPS visit: http://get2green.fcps.edu/
