Mariam Amadu, our School Social Work Intern, along with Maris Marris, our School Social Worker, recently applied for and selected for a grant through Educate Fairfax early this month. The grant is for $2,000 and will be used to purchase reading books which will be distributed to the students at KJMS for summer vacation 2024.

The intended aim and impact of the grant is to broaden the student's concentration and higher level of focus. While also promoting student's literacy skills and comprehension, expanding their vocabulary, and aiming to reduce stress. This project will also strive to encourage the students to utilize reading as a coping mechanism and stress reducer, which they can utilize during the summer break in 2024.

We are so grateful to Ms. Amadu, Ms. Marris, and Educate Fairfax for helping our students!
